This is a brilliantly written piece. Thank you, Harry Litman.

I, too, value Dr. Litman’s judgment and writing, but, continuing the theme in a recent response to Dr. Richardson’s “Letters from an American,” what makes anyone believe that there will be an election on 2028, or an inauguration in 2029? Assuming age leaves tRUmp as President-Emeritus and Vance or Musk as President ((although the latter does not meet Constitutionally required eligibility - a status already overturned by tRUmp, as an the insurrectionist (see 14th Amendment, Section 3) imminent return to office)).

Very valid points. At this time, one can only hope (and do what we can), I guess.

The most shocking thing about any of this is Democrats calling on Biden to pardon Trump.

Biden can't pardon him for state crimes anyway. But I agree that he is the perfect example of someone undeserving of any pardons, at any level.

I for one am so very tired of this child man. Who does he think he is? He’s just not that special at all considering all his crimes he’s got a nerve to be out there expecting to be exonerated of crimes that he actually did commit! That arrogance is par for the course with him, he thinks what ever he does because he did it it isn’t a crime. What kind of thinking is that? It’s insane, no one else would think their crimes aren’t crimes because they are so special that makes them not crimes! That’s crazy! His narcissism is completely out of control and the Supreme Court has allowed this!

I have long held that for too long McConnell has been the most dangerous person in government. He has presided over the destruction of the GQP and has been joined by others as the great poisoner and defiler of the legislative branch. Gingrich bears nearly responsibility.

I couldn't agree with you more. There's something sinister about these folks on the right that has just puzzled me for the last 30 years. I think it's a combination of monetary greed, the need for power, racial prejudices, and deceit, that have led to a "Trump" becoming the false idolic savior of the country. He's nothing more than a dangerous pitchman selling a poisonous elixir.

I almost cannot believe that a president who tried to overthrow the government after losing an election in order to stay in power and who absconded the WH with a massive cache of classified documents, which he refused to return, is going to avoid serious penalty.

Is the law really this toothless in the face of money and power? Deplorable.

Trump is a foolish old blow heart and the more attention he gets the more he does what he does is make it hard for everyone below him.

His dad tought him that the problem is the FBI knew the type of person he was long before now and they said because he could tell them about the mob so they let him do what he wanted.

Sociopath or psychopath?

I’m no expert but the best explanation of the difference I’ve heard is:

Sociopath says “I want what I want, and if others get hurt in getting it, meh”

Psychopath says “I want what I want, and for others to get hurt in me getting it”

Trump = Plague.

Harry- because not prosecuting a sitting, or president elect is not in the constitution, and is only a justice dept precedent, is it fear of an all out civil war preventing the JD from forgetting the precedent as has been done in Roe v Wade? This man has tried to overthrow our democracy, and Merrick Garland has now spent years arresting some conspirators, but mostly looters.This is a reality show that I had hoped would never be picked up for another season.
