Senator Sheldon Whitehouse’s Stand Against Emil Bove

I just spoke with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse. Tomorrow, he’ll vote on whether Trump favorite Emil Bove should get a spot on the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

Senator Whitehouse is a longtime member of the Judiciary Committee. Before coming to the Senate, he served as his home state’s U.S. Attorney and state attorney general. I can’t think of a better person to discuss the shocking Republican effort to push Bove’s nomination ahead despite overwhelming evidence of the nominee's unfitness to serve as well as his denunciation by scores of former federal judges and prosecutors.

Whitehouse and I discussed why Republicans ignored alarming evidence of misconduct, how they shielded Bove from any real scrutiny, and what hopes still remain for blocking this profoundly dangerous nominee. It was an interesting, in-depth, and timely conversation.
