The Federalist Society has corrupted the courts. I have no faith that the courts will uphold the Constitution at this point. It's up to the people to not only save democracy as we've known it but to repair the damage of decades in the making.
What is so disgusting about these legal arguments from the administration - other than the just disgusting dishonesty - is that as soon as a Democrat is in the oval office again - if that ever happens - they will argue the exact opposite position. They will claim they never argued for these positions, or it was taken out of context, or not what they meant, etc. Republicans are just simply liars.

There, it is certainly within the realm of probability that the Court will order that Federalizing the National Guard and using the Marines to stop interference with ICE is not a 10th Amendment violation as that determination may only be made by the Executive. But assume the contrary result at SCOTUS. The question then becomes how does the Nation deal with a Constitutional Crisis when the Trump Administration refuses to withdraw troops from Sanctuary Cities? Congress is certainly not going to be useful, as Speaker Johnson proved yesterday calling for the censuring of Senator Padilla. The FBI under Patel will not enforce a Supreme Court ruling that restrains Trump; not sure that's within the jurisdiction of the FBI. That leaves the military, which is under oath to uphold the laws of the United States - even in the face of a chain of command order to violate those laws. Is the military the last wall of defense?
The hearing on deployment of National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles began yesterday at 1:30 PM PT/4:30 PM EST. There's a three hour difference between these time zones, and the court is located in California.
Newsom’s legal team argued that Trump’s use of federal troops violates state sovereignty, as there is no rebellion or invasion to justify the deployment.
The judge agreed with Newsom, around 9:00pm PT/12:00am EST Thursday. Newsom then held a press conference about the ruling.
