I agree with Litman's focus on Congressional changes which would allow democratic voting (that each vote counts). Fascism will require our effort to promote democratic values (love thy neighbors).
I never thought I would see a day where they are openly trying to take away our right to vote. Thomas should be ashamed of himself. The rule of law means nothing to the right and he will be disenfranchising his own people's right to vote. If the GOP is successful, we will have lost our country forever to MAGA and democracy will be gone. Whats the point of voting if they aren't going to count our votes if they aren't leaning Republican? They have openly said they are going to cheat to keep in power and with the trifecta in Washington, who can stop them? My country is gone and I don't recognize it anymore. My father fought in WWII for his country whereas the person in the white house had to fake bone spurs to not fight for his country. He doesn't care about this country or the people in it. Him and his billionaires are all he cares about. I hope his followers finally see that he isn't working for them and once his dangerous policies start to hit them, they have no one to blame but themselves.
I think about my dad all the time in light of what’s going on. He was born in NYC and served in WWII in the jungles of Burma with the army corps of engineers. I can hear his voice in my head saying “Why did I bother?” It makes me sick. But it also motivates me to do at least one thing every day to fight back. Please do what you can, no matter how small.
I will not give up. That would be dishonoring my dad and all he fought for in WWII. He would want me to fight for the rights we have that are under attack. The only good thing is more of MAGA are regretting their votes for him but we all have to do what we can to stop him and the MAGA republicans. I watched Colbert the other night when he had the Governor of Illinois on and the governor said two former Presidents came from Illinois, Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama. He said Lincoln would never be part of the Republican party today. How right he is!!!!

I am a 76 year old white woman who is now ashamed of the color of my skin because I could be perceived to agree with the blatant racism of the current administration/opps regime.
I grew up with bigoted parents who attempted to raise me to believe their erroneous stance that less pigmentation made them superior.
I knew better and spoke out against that by age six. I acted out against that. I marched to Selma to protest against this policy.
After all these years I have finally come to the conclusion that much of this racist stand is about envy: about fear: about the areas where black men and women show superior intelligence and courage and abilities.
With the actions of this Trump regime, a lawless Justice Dept., Republican congressional members acting as Trump's marching solders, and corrupt Supreme (extreme) court, I no longer recognize this country. Our government is being run by psychopaths.
There's psychopathy in all of us: looking out for ourselves, showing no empathy for OTHERS! That's why change will require love and attention to all children.
I would also like to see an impeachment or two. It’s more than warranted and it’s time we start punishing lawbreakers, not allowing them to get away with their crimes.
Tangentially related: why has the FBI been tasked with finding and bringing back the Texas Democrats that fled the state in order to deny a quorum for the Texas legislature to gerrymander their hearts out?
Thank you for a layman's explanation of how SCOTUS has eliminated Section 2 of Amendment 15. What happened to "originalist" theory? (Which I think is BS anyway.) What the heck do they think the writers and voters for this Amendment "meant" when it said: "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, ..." ? Can it it really be any more clear? SCOTUS does not defend the Constitutional rights of our citizens. It makes up technical excuses to take away our rights.

Why would any American oppose making it easier for all eligible citizens to vote? Isn’t that the essence of democracy? Actively resisting the right to vote—especially for the poor or for minority groups—raises a fundamental question: is that not un-American? Let’s be honest. If the goal is to maintain power by limiting who can vote, we’re echoing the tactics used after Reconstruction. Voter suppression isn't a relic of the past—it's been essential to the modern GOP playbook. The 2016 and 2020 elections are proof.
